I love making beef jerky. I love bacon. I was looking for new flavors for my beef jerky and found J&Ds Hickory Bacon Salt at the store. You'll need a mixing bowl, a jerky gun, and a food dehydrator.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (leaner is better)
2 tsp jerky cure
3 tsp Hickory Bacon Salt
optional:
3 tsp powdered white cheddar cheese
Directions
Mix all ingredients into ground beef until completely blended (approx 5 minutes squishing it thoroughly by hand). Wash your hands and preparation area well before and after handling the meat! Refrigerate for 4-5 hours or overnight. Form into strips with a jerky gun and place onto dehydrator trays. Dehydrate on high setting for 3.5 to 4 hours. Should be somewhat tough but not brittle or hard to chew. Pat off extra fat with paper towels. (Less fat equals longer storage time.) I like to put a handful of strips in vacuum sealed bags. One pound of ground beef makes 5-6 small packages of beef jerky! Use the cheddar cheese powder to make your jerky taste like a bacon cheeseburger!!!
